Consultation

Clinical Consultation

It is not uncommon for clinicians to run practices in isolation. Although it has its advantages, one of the disadvantages is there is often nobody to bounce thoughts off of or any way remove yourself from being stuck in that parallel process with your client. Consulting is the act of seeking professional feedback and guidance from another mental health professional for challenging cases, ethical dilemmas, or other aspects of clinical cases. Consulting provides an opportunity to ask questions in a safe and confidential space and the ability to extend better clinical care to your clients when consulting a supervisor/colleague/specialist bringing a new and fresh perspective to the situation.
